Research-Supported Benefits:
Supports Cellular Health. Glutathione is our body’s most abundant antioxidant, playing a critical role in protecting the body from oxidative stress. Glutathione helps to regulate several cellular events, such as gene expression, protein and DNA synthesis, immune response and cell growth. In addition to being an antioxidant itself, glutathione is also a cofactor for several other antioxidant enzymes1-3
Supports Detoxification. Glutathione supports both phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification in the liver, helping to neutralize and excrete harmful toxins. Glutathione not only binds to toxins before they can bind to and damage cells, but it also transforms toxins into a water-soluble form for further filtering and easy excretion through the urinary system. Dysfunctional detoxification pathways can lead to liver damage, DNA damage and increased cellular stress.4
Supports Healthy Aging. Glutathione deficiency contributes to oxidative stress, which can accelerate aging and the development of age-related disorders. Our mitochondria—the cells’ energy production centers—are dependent on glutathione, which can cross mitochondrial membranes and minimize reactive oxygen species (ROS) buildup. Healthy mitochondrial function is vital for healthy aging.5
Supports Brain and Nervous System Health. Glutathione is necessary for neutralizing ROS in the brain, which can lead to poor cognitive function. Research shows that reduced glutathione levels in the brain are linked to the development of neurological conditions.6, 7

- Glutathione functions extensively in tissues and organs throughout the body.
- It plays critical roles in protecting the body from oxidative stress, maintaining cellular functions, and supporting healthy immune function.
- Many factors can increase cellular exposure to oxidative insult, and therefore increase cellular consumption of nutrients—such as glutathione—that provide antioxidant activity.
- This may result in a fierce cycle of oxidative stress and challenges to detoxification. Complete biotransformation and protection from oxidative stress are important to maintaining cellular integrity and tissue health. (8)
- Much information related to mitochondrial health has surfaced in scientific literature. Mitochondria, the energy-producing powerhouses of cells, are also the primary intracellular site of oxygen consumption and the major source of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
- S-acetyl glutathione has been shown to cross the membrane of the mitochondria, increasing the organelle's activity and minimizing ROS.(5)
- Reduction of ROS is associated with maintaining mitochondrial integrity and function, and improved mitochondrial health is believed to support overall health and energy.
- Use of stomach acid-resistant capsules (DRcaps) further protect stability. Laboratory data showed that S-acetyl glutathione increased intracellular glutathione and had a positive effect on many oxidative stress biomarkers. (9)

Increased Bioavailability. Traditional glutathione supplements have poor absorption in the body. The S-acetyl glutathione in Emothion® is in crystalline form, which has a quicker dissolution rate and more efficient absorption than other glutathione supplements.
Better Form. Many glutathione supplements use L-glutathione. ProHealth uses S-acetyl glutathione, a derivative of glutathione that is more bioavailable, can cross mitochondrial membranes and can increase glutathione levels inside cells better.
Higher Dose. Typical glutathione supplements contain 100 mg, whereas ProHealth’s S-acetyl glutathione contains 300 mg per serving.
Stability Protection. The use of stomach acid-resistant capsules (DRcaps) further protects glutathione’s stability.
Meets US Pharmacopeia Standards. Our S-acetyl glutathione ingredients meet US Pharmacopeia standards.
Free of Unwanted Ingredients. S-acetyl glutathione doesn’t contain yeast, wheat, gluten, sugar, salt, dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, soy, corn, dye or preservatives.
Quality Manufacturing Practices. All of our products are manufactured in an FDA-registered, GMP-certified facility.
Third-Party Tested in the USA. Every batch is third-party tested in US laboratories to ensure the highest quality, purity and potency. Certificates of Analysis are available.
